Smithsonian Photo Contest 2014 finalists – in pictures

The Smithsonian website has announced the 60 finalists for its 11th annual photo contest. From Japanese snow monkeys to Indonesian spear fishers, over 50,000 images were submitted by photographers from 132 different countries, with 10 finalists selected in each of the six competition categories: altered image, Americana, the natural world, people, travel and mobile.
